The question of the town planning of the Achaemenid capitals had been neglected until around fifteen years ago and thanks to the use of geophysics and lidar, progress could be made. Previously, archaeologists thought that these capitals were occupied according to the seasons, because they had not found a “city” or dwellings close to the monuments.

 

Whether in Persepolis or Pasargadae, archaeological research has changed this point of view.
