Susa

Susa is a very ancient city in Elam. Its location puts it in contact with Mesopotamian, Assyrian and Babylonian cities.

But a district occupied during the Achaemenid era was discovered and excavated by French missions.

It was developed mainly by Darius I. Its architecture differs somewhat from that of Persepolis, due to the materials used.
